How the Spaces Work Together

Boothbay Playhouse Events spans approximately 6,000 square feet total. The main theatre occupies about 4,000 square feet in a T shape. That is where you will find the large dance floor, two balconies overlooking the space, and room for up to 200 guests. The candle wall backdrop sits at one end, and the farmhouse tables we provide are eight feet long, paired with cross-back chairs.

The other wing adds another 2,000 square feet. We set up the lounge area with our reclaimed Art Deco bar and the large brick fireplace. This is where cocktail hour often happens, especially when couples use the covered porch and stone patio right outside. You also get a suite with two salon stations and a sink, plus a separate den with a leather lounge area. Both wedding parties have space to get ready without running into each other before the ceremony.

The outdoor ceremony space comes with benches, a white pergola, and an antique farmhouse double door entrance. Some couples start here and move inside for the reception. Others do everything indoors. The space adapts to what you're planning.

What We Provide and What You Bring

Boothbay Playhouse provides all bartending services because we're fully licensed by the state of Maine. You can customize the drink menu, but we handle the execution. We provide in-house catering and work with you to build a menu that fits your taste and budget. Our team prepares and serves everything from our commercial kitchen.

Your package includes day-of-coordination services. This person acts as your point person, so you're not managing logistics during your own wedding. We also include setup and cleanup, plus a parking attendant who is on site one hour before your event starts. Our lot holds 80 vehicles, though we do recommend shuttle service if you have guests staying locally and expect a larger crowd.

For other vendors, you're welcome to bring in your photographer, florist, or DJ with approval. We do require that all vendors carry general liability insurance, which helps protect everyone involved.

Climate Control and Backup Systems 

We have six large commercial mini split units for air conditioning and a Modine ceiling heater for cooler months. The fireplace in the lounge adds extra warmth if you're getting married during our shoulder season, which runs from mid April through mid December.

The generator is one of those things that seems boring until the weather turns. Maine can be unpredictable, and we didn't want a couple's wedding stopped by a power outage. The 30kw unit powers all operations if the grid goes down.

Rental Periods That Give You Room to Plan

We offer rental options ranging from one-day access to full three-day weekend packages. Because you receive exclusive access to the entire building and grounds, the space is entirely yours during your reserved period. Some couples use Friday for a rehearsal dinner or simply set up and hold the ceremony rehearsal with our Day of Coordinator, Saturday for the wedding, and Sunday for a farewell brunch. Others reserve only Saturday with three hours of access on Friday.

Your preferred date is reserved upon completion of a signed contract and initial retainer payment. Payment plans are structured to distribute the balance over your planning timeline.

Can we bring our own photographer and florist? 

Yes. While we provide all catering and bar services in-house, you're welcome to select your other vendors. They'll need to be preapproved if they're not on our preferred list. All vendors must carry general liability insurance.

What happens if we need to adjust our guest count? 

We accommodate groups from 60 to 200 guests. Your day of coordinator will work with you as your headcount finalizes to make sure the space setup matches your actual attendance.

Is parking available on site? 

We offer parking for up to 80 vehicles. A parking attendant is on site starting one hour before your event. If you have guests staying locally and anticipate a larger event, we recommend hiring a shuttle service to optimize the parking area and ensure everyone gets home safely.
